Description
Calcinor G 1g/10ml
Calcinor medication is used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels in people who dont get enough calcium form their diet. It may be used to treat conditions caused by low calcium level such as bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia/rickets), decreased activity of the parathyroid gland (Hypoparathyroidism) and a certain muscle disease (Latent tetany). It may also be used in certain patient to make sure they are getting enough calcium (e.g., women who are pregnant, nursing or postmenopausal, people taking certain medications such as phenytoin, phenobarbital or prednisone).
Calcium plays a very important role in the body, it is necessary for normal functioning of nerves, cells, muscle and bone, if there is not enough calcium in the blood, then the body will take calcium from bones, thereby weakening bones. Having the right amount of calcium is important for building and keeping stron bones.
Action:
calcium plays important physiological roles, many of which are not completely understood. Calcium is essential for the proper functioning of nerve and muscle, where it has a major influence on stimulation threshold and the release of neurotansmitter. It is necessary for muscle contraction, renal function, maintenance of the integrity of membranes, coagulation of the blood, and cardiac function. Calcium also plays regulatory roles in the release and storage of absorption and gastrin secretion.
Calcium is present in small quantities in the extracellular fluid and to a minor extent in the structure of cytoplasm of cells of soft tissue. To fulfill its vital function, ionized calcium must be available to the appropriate tissue in the proper concentration. An endocrine control system ordinarily keeps the plasma concentrations of ionized calcium within narrow limits. Intracellular concentration of ionized calcium are also strictly regulated by control of the exchange of ions between the cell and its environment and between the cell and its environment and between intracellular compartment.
