Tylonor super bolus 600mg Description

Tylonor super bolus 600mg is a macrolide antibiotic, and like other macrolide antibiotic, tylosin inhibits bacteria growth by binding to 30s ribosomal subunit and thereby inhibiting protein synthesis in the bacteria. it has broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive aerobic bacteria like clostridium, corynebacterium and lawsonia intracellularis. it’s used for gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasma infections for susceptible bacterial infections in cattle (cbpp), small ruminant (ccpp), pigs (pneumonia and dysentery caused by treponema) and chickens (crd, infectious rhinitis). it can also be used in cases of secondary bacterial infection by clostridium perfringes a sequel to coccidiosis and toxoplasmosis.

macrolide antibiotic

Macrolides are a class of antibiotic that includes erythromycin, roxithromycin, azithromycin and clarithromycin. First-line indications for macrolides include the treatment of atypical community acquired pneumonia, H. Pylori (as part of triple therapy), chlamydia and acute non-specific urethritis. Macrolides are also a useful alternative for people with penicillin and cephalosporin allergy.

What are macrolides and how do they work?

Macrolides are a class of antibiotic that includes erythromycin, roxithromycin, azithromycin and clarithromycin. They are useful in treating respiratory, skin, soft tissue, sexually transmitted, H. pylori and atypical mycobacterial infections. Macrolides share a similar spectrum of antimicrobial activity with benzylpenicillin making them useful alternatives for people with a history of penicillin (and cephalosporin) allergy. Bacteria often display cross-resistance between the macrolides.

Macrolides interfere with bacterial protein synthesis and, depending on concentration and bacterial species, are either bactericidal (kill bacteria), or bacteriostatic (inhibit growth of bacteria). Macrolides also have immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects, which can be beneficial in some situations, e.g. when they are used in the treatment of cystic fibrosis.1

Which infections should macrolides be used for?

Macrolides are effective against gram-positive (excluding enterococci) and some gram-negative bacteria. They are also active against Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Treponema pallidum, Bordetella pertussis, Chlamydia trachomatis, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Legionella spp., Campylobacter spp. and Borrelia spp.1
