Composition
100 mg of Pefloxacin (as Pefloxacin mesilate dihydrate B.P)
Properties
- Synthetic broad-spectrum, third generation fluoroquinolone
- Bactericidal with excellent antibacterial activity against most gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria
- Interferes with the activity of DNA-gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing bacterial replication
- Diverflox shows good absorption with high bioavailability, a long half-life, excellent tissue and body fluid penetration
- Extensively metabolized and main metabolites are N-demethyl pefloxacin (Norfloxacin) and pefloxacin N-oxide which also have antibacterial activity
Indications
- Mixed infections caused by two or more types of organisms and multi-drug resistant bacteria, causing respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, bone and joint infections, skin and tissue infections and severe systemic infections
Specific Indications
- Colisepticaemia
- Pasteurellosis
- Salmonellosis
- Staphylococcal infections
- Mixed bacterial infections
- Secondary bacterial complications of viral disease
- CRD Complex
- Infectious coryza
- Early chick mortality.
Dosage
Treatment
1 gm of Diverflox powder in 2 litres of water for 3-5 days or as advised by a veterinarian
Prevention eg During Transfer
2-1-2 (1 gm in 2 litres of water, 2 days before, on the day of transfer and 2 days after transfer)
Withdrawal
- Meat- 7 days
